During your child’s development stages, he/she achieves few developmental milestones. As your child grows gradually, there are occasions when you take him/her to the park, go shopping, attend a party or go to visit a friend. However, you may be a little concerned whether your child will be able to socialize at these places or not.
Don’t worry! Here are a few tips to help your child, which will enable their social development:
Teach Greetings: You should make sure that whenever you meet guests or family members, you must greet them and encourage your children to do the same. For example, teach your child to say ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’ when he/she meets someone and teach him/her to say ‘Good Bye’ when he/she leaves the place.
Play different games at home to teach your child greetings and socialization. Peek-a-boo is a good option.
Shake Hands: You can teach your children to shake hands when they greet people. This will increase their confidence and help in early socialization.
Imitate Party: Before going to a party, you can imitate a party at home and teach your child the way he/she should behave at the party. For example, if you are going to a birthday party, teach your child to wish the person on their birthday or sing the birthday song, etc.
Teach Etiquettes: Teach your child to say ‘thank you’ if someone gives him/her a gift. If your child makes mistakes, teach him/her to say ‘sorry’ immediately.
Fix Play Date: It is important to keep your child busy at all times. Invite your child’s friends at home on a play date and keep them busy in conversations. This will help in improving the social development of your child.
